If it is suspected that a child’s emotional and/or mental health is affecting school attendance and/or performance, referral to counseling services is a viable intervention. Listed below is a partial list of community agencies providing mental health services and behavior programs.

School-Aged Treatment Services (SATS): Individual, group, and family counseling services for children and youth ages 7-22. SATS are primarily provided at each child’s school, but are also offered in the home, clinic, and community as needed.

Children’s Intensive Services (CIS): Short term (4-12 weeks) intensive home-based services to children and adolescents. Using a team approach, CIS is designed to address the identified needs of the child/youth that have severe behavioral and/or emotional problems.

Early Identification, Intervention Services (EIIS): is specifically for infants and young children who may display some type of developmental, behavioral concern or who are at risk for disabilities or special needs. The purpose is to identify mild concerns in order to provide early intervention to the child “at risk”.

 

DESERT/MOUNTAIN CHILDREN’S CENTER  continued

 

Screening, Assessment, Referral, and Treatment Program (SART): Designed for children 0-6 who may have been prenatally exposed to drugs, alcohol, and/or violence. Also addresses concerns with children experiencing behavior problems in school settings and home.

Student Assistance Program (SAP): Serves students, their families, and the school community. For students who are dealing with non-academic barriers to learning. SAP is on some MUSD elementary school campuses and pending at YV-Boys and Girls Club.

Parenting: 6 week program, no fee, no children age restriction, NCTI based in conjunction with student N.C.T.I. program. LSS also offers a 6 week Positive Discipline Class

 

Adult Classes: 52 weeks. $50: Batterer Intervention, Anger Management and Divorce Conflict (court approved)

Success First 0-18 years (excludes CFS and Probation) Serves children at risk, with severe emotional condition, experiencing difficulty in school, family relationships, or impaired function.  Team works with entire family for a four-month period.

Therapeutic Behavior Support (T.B.S.)  

Wraparound is limited to DCFS and Probation referrals.

The Crisis Walk-In Clinic (CWIC) provides urgent mental health services to residents of the County of San Bernardino. CWIC provides crisis intervention, crisis risk assessments, medications, referrals to county, contract and community resources, education and when necessary evaluations for hospitalization. Consumers will be screened for appropriateness of service and will either be provided referrals or admitted in to CWIC for additional assessment. A consumer may meet the criteria to see a psychiatrist, which will be arranged same day for adults and an appointment will be scheduled for children.   Open 24/7.  Can transport for 5150.

Transitional Aged Youth (TAY) - provides mental health services, case management to young adults between the ages of 16-25. The TAY Center is where our clients can come to have their basic needs met (shower, laundry, and food) as well as find additional services such as counseling, job resources, housing resources, and enrichment groups (potential clients must have either Medi-Cal or NO insurance).

A short-term, 14-bed  center for   TAY age 18-25 in San Bernardino County who are at risk and need a higher level of care (but lower than a psychiatric hospital) who are willing to actively part in developing their own plans for recovery. Priority is given to at-risk, system-involved youth (dependents and wards).
